What to expect

Taste what makes Malaysia great on this evening culinary journey through the food courts and frenetic streets of Kuala Lumpur. The journey begins at the Park Royal KL Hotel before setting off a very short walk to a KL institution, Lot 10 Hutong food court. The basement-level food mecca sets itself apart from other food courts as all restaurants are hand-picked and operated by 2nd and 3rd generation families. This is where you will be introduced to the signature sweet of Malaysia: Cendol - made from shaved ice topped with neon green pandan jelly and drizzled with coconut milk and palm sugar. This first treat will give you an icy respite from the tropical heat before the next journey down to the heart of China town by MRT. Upon arrival Pasar Seni MRT station, we will walk to Sri Maha Temple, the city’s main Hindu temple, to hear how this place of worship became the centre of KL’s Indian community. Afterwards take a short walk through the streets to a local restaurant specializing in roti canai, an Indian-influenced flatbread served with curry and soup. Walk further up to taste the tender and juicy beef meatballs serve in hot soup inside the 70 years-old restaurant. Later, hop in a vintage grocery store selling local childhood snacks. Grab some of the local snacks from this store if you want. Next stop is the epitome of KL street food prepare in Charcoal fire. Claypot chicken rice is undoubtedly one of the most popular Chinese dishes in Malaysia. After the main course, we will visit a hidden café to sample hand-crafted teas that help digest the full stomach. The hard-to-find, yet ever-so-good, café is in a traditional Chinese shop house, bringing to life a bygone era of KL. A stop at the nostalgic alley that surprising lively and full of lanterns before bid farewell. Catch the train back to Bukit Bintang MRT station or enjoy the night life in Chinatown on your own.
