What to expect

Located in the northwest of Kyoto, Arashiyama is a scenic district renowned for its natural beauty and historic landmarks. The area offers breathtaking views throughout the year, with landscapes that transform beautifully across the seasons.

One of the region’s most famous attractions is the Sagano Scenic Railway, a charming train ride that travels between Torokko Saga Station and Torokko Kameoka Station. The 25-minute journey winds through the Hozugawa River Valley, offering picturesque views of cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, colorful maple leaves in autumn, and occasional snowy scenery in winter.

Arashiyama is also home to cultural treasures such as Togetsukyo Bridge, originally built in the Heian period, and the serene Bamboo Forest Path, where towering bamboo stalks create a peaceful and unforgettable atmosphere. Visitors can also explore Tenryu-ji Temple, founded in 1339 and famous for its beautifully preserved traditional Japanese garden.
