Frequently Asked Questions
About Hengjing Baijiu Cultural Museum
Hengjing Shaojiu Cultural Center is located on the shore of the beautiful Taihu Lake in Suzhou, in Linhu Town, a famous town in the south of the Yangtze River. The water of Taihu Lake here is sweet and clear, and the rice irrigated with lake water has full grains, sweet and delicious. This place has been the core production area of Hengjing Shaojiu, a famous liquor in the south of the Yangtze River, since the Spring and Autumn Period. It prospered in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Since the Yuan Dynasty, Shaojiu produced in this area has been leading the liquor industry. In the Ming Dynasty, this Shaojiu was widely consumed in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. When Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty went to the south of the Yangtze River, he was nostalgic for its delicious taste and proposed the first couplet "Hengtang Town Shaojiu". Because its radicals contain gold, wood, water, fire and earth, it has become a legend through the ages. It was specially selected as a tribute to the capital. At that time, it was difficult to find a bottle. Drinking this wine was either expensive or rich.
