Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
The night cruise, departing between 6 PM and 8 PM, is the most popular and visually stunning option when the skyline is fully illuminated. Daytime cruises between 11 AM and 5 PM are ideal for those who prefer clear daylight views and fewer crowds. For the best experience, aim for a weekday to avoid peak tourist seasons.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Use a wide-angle lens to capture the full sweep of the Pudong skyline with the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Tower
-
Night photography benefits from a tripod or steady surface — the low-light conditions on the river demand longer exposures
-
Shoot during the blue hour just after sunset for a magical mix of warm city lights and deep blue skies
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
The Huangpu River cruise is a beloved local pastime, so expect families and couples enjoying the scenery together. Respectful behavior on board is appreciated — avoid loud conversations and keep the deck areas clear for other passengers. When photographing the Bund, remember that some areas are popular with local wedding photoshoots, so be mindful of couples posing nearby.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
Chinese New Year — the riverfront is adorned with spectacular lantern displays and festive light shows
-
National Day Golden Week (October 1-7) — the Bund and Pudong are draped in patriotic decorations and extra illumination
-
Mid-Autumn Festival — special evening cruises often feature moon-themed lighting and cultural performances
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Hold onto your belongings securely, especially on the open deck where the river breeze can snatch items away
-
Keep children and elderly companions close, as railings and deck edges require caution
-
Follow all onboard safety instructions and remain within designated passenger areas during the cruise
