Notes
Overview
Taroko National Park is a well-known nature reserve in Hualien, spanning Hualien County, Taichung City and Nantou County. The park was officially established in 1986. Taroko National Park is characterized by canyons and cliffs, with steep cliffs and quiet scenery. "Taroko Gorge" is therefore listed as one of the eight scenic spots in Taiwan. The geological terrain here, including majestic cliffs, river terraces, open estuary alluvial fans and canyons, meets many items in line with the World Heritage registration standards. The alpine areas in the park preserve relicts of the Ice Age, such as the salamander, showing rich biodiversity. Due to the continuous active uplift of the earth's crust, the Taroko Gorge has formed a thick and majestic landscape. The unspoiled native vegetation and forests provide habitats for a variety of animals, reflecting the uniqueness and richness of the ecosystem. Taroko National Park was therefore selected by the Ministry of Culture as one of Taiwan's World Heritage potential sites and is an ideal destination for nature lovers and ecological researchers.
