Overview

The Xiuguluan River is a river in Zhuoxi Township, Hualien County. It originates from Xiuguluan Mountain in the Central Mountains. The upstream flows northward along the Huadong Rift Valley to Ruisui. The main tributaries of Xiuguluan Creek are Fuyuan Creek, Hongye Creek, Fengping Creek, Zhuo Creek and Lele Creek. There is an arched single-hole long bridge at the estuary in the lower reaches of Xiuguluan River, which looks like a long rainbow lying horizontally and rushing by a turbulent stream, named "Changhong Bridge". In addition to enjoying the scenery of Xiuguluan River Valley on the upper reaches of Ruigang Highway, tourists can also participate in the well-known local rafting activities, which are similar to rafting activities. The starting point of the Xiuguluan River rafting activity is at the Xiuguluan River Visitor Center, next to the Ruisui Bridge in the East Rift Valley, where there is also a camping area. During the rafting season in May and June every year, Xiuguluan Creek is full of tourists. Some families, some couples, and some couples come here to go rafting on the lake to see the beautiful scenery and experience the authentic Hualien. Tao's natural beauty. The Xiuguluan River rafting is centered on Chimei and can be roughly divided into two sections. The first section of the voyage has a smooth water flow, which is the preferred section for cultivating tacit understanding and training skills. The water in the back section is very turbulent, with constant whirlpools and rapids. You can move forward without paddling, but you must control the direction carefully, otherwise it will easily capsize. There are 23 torrents in total, of which there are seven rapids from Ruisui Bridge to Chimei, and the rest are distributed between Chimei and Changhong Bridge. The seventh torrent is very thrilling. After passing through several rapids one after another, cross the Chimei Suspension Bridge, and the seventh torrent is on the way. After passing the test of this level, you can come to the Chimei resting place and temporarily stop and rest. This place is a vast sandy beach, and many tourists eat and rest here. After Chimei, there is a different beautiful scenery of the canyon. The waters of this section are deep and wide, and there are a series of whirlpools and rapids along the way. At this time, the real rafting climax begins. When the Changhong Bridge is revealed, the rapids and rapids have become a thing of the past, replaced by wide and gentle waters, and the boating trip will come to an end here. From Ruisui Bridge to Changhong Bridge, there are ten people in a kayak, and there are speedboat staff around to protect it. The itinerary is very exciting and worth trying.

  • [Auto-Drainage Boat]

The basic boat type, with drainage holes and air cushions on the bottom, but because it has no wave-blocking surface and is relatively heavy, it is more tiring to row compared to the other two types of rowing boats.

  • [Rapid Star]

It is an upgraded version of the self-draining boat. It will not be completely covered when it capsizes. It is easy to maneuver the boat, easy to pass the waves, and the boat is more stable. It has 11 independent air chambers. Even if one of them leaks, the other air chambers can still play a bearing function, making it safer to travel on the water.

  • [Upward Star]

The boat is designed with double safety spikes at the bow and stern. If the boat hits a rock wall head-on, it can protect the passengers in front and behind. If the boat capsizes, it will not cover anyone. The boat is halfway below the water, making the rafting more exciting. The special drainage groove design at the bottom of the boat makes it easier for the boat to move forward, allowing you to safely challenge the rapids.

  • [Guardian Boat]

The boat is wide and stable, equipped with an engine and a lifeguard on board for each boat to provide protection along the way. It is suitable for seniors, families, and children to enjoy the scenery along the Xiuguluan River.
