Notes
Overview

Taiping Mountain was formerly known as "Mian Nao", which means "lush and green" in the Atayal language. People can stroll in the primeval forest behind Zhen'an Temple and let their thoughts soar to the past when the mountain was covered with giant trees.

Drive along the Cuifeng Forest Trail, where you can often see animals such as Taiwan macaques and emperor pheasants. The end point is Taiwan's largest alpine lake: Cuifeng Lake, which is 1,840 meters above sea level. On the opposite bank is the home of the national treasure Taiwan beech. In autumn, you can enjoy the golden mountains along the 4-kilometer trail.

The Jiuzhize Hot Spring, not far from the toll station, is a well-known carbonated spring and is also a major feature of this place. Taipingshan Forest Recreation Area is the first choice for you who love nature when visiting Yilan.
