Local Legends & Stories
Bird Paradise sits on land historically linked to the Malay community’s traditional fishing villages near Kallang River, though Mandai’s wilderness has long been respected as a sanctuary for native wildlife. Local birdwatchers remember the area’s transformation from dense jungle to a world-class facility that now supports regional biodiversity efforts.

Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
The best time to visit is early morning (9–11 AM) or late afternoon (3–5 PM) when birds are most active and feedings occur; avoid weekends and public holidays for smaller crowds. Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
Singaporeans value quiet respect for nature and wildlife—keep voices low near exhibits and avoid sudden movements that may startle birds Dress modestly for public spaces; while casual park attire is fine, avoid beachwear like swimsuits or flip-flops inside the dining area Tipping is not customary in Singapore, and staff at Bird Paradise will not expect or solicit tips

-
Christmas and Chinese New Year feature themed enrichment for the birds and limited-edition photo ops at the park entrance
-
Peak seasons include weekends and public holidays—arrive early to secure parking and shorter queues for popular zones
Important Guidelines & Safety
