The Hermitage Amsterdam is the Dutch branch of the Russian Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. This beautiful museum is home to over 3m works of art and has regularly changing exhibitions. Her acquisition of 225 paintings in Berlin was the genesis of the Russian State Museum.Close collaboration between the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam led to the unique situation we have today: a Dutch branch of the Russian State Museum (!) And so, in fewer than 96 weeks - this former nursing home (and UNESCO World Heritage site) was turned into a museum for artwork from Russia. This exciting exhibition coincides with the 100th anniversary of the February Revolution, which brought about their end.
