What to expect

Explore one of St. Petersburg’s most historic landmarks, the Peter and Paul Fortress, a symbol of the city’s foundation and strength. Built in 1703 by Peter the Great, this iconic fortress stands on Zayachy Island and marks the birthplace of St. Petersburg. Originally constructed for defense, it later served as a political prison and now forms part of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. With its striking Baroque architecture, golden spire, and the majestic Peter and Paul Cathedral, the fortress offers visitors a deep dive into Russia’s imperial past and rich cultural heritage.
