It is an unforgettable sensory journey perfect for couples, families, and art lovers seeking a magical evening in Osaka.
Local Legends & Stories
Nagai Park, where the garden is located, has long been a beloved green sanctuary for Osaka locals, originally serving as a place of refuge and recreation after the city's post-war reconstruction. The integration of teamLab's futuristic art into this historic park symbolizes Osaka's beautiful blend of deep-rooted traditions and forward-looking innovation.
Must Do Experiences
-
Wander through the Ovoids in the Weeds and interact with the glowing egg-shaped sculptures that change color and emit sounds when touched.
-
Discover the Floating Ovoids on the Water, where illuminated spheres drift across the pond and react to the wind and your presence.
-
Stroll along the path of the Resonating Microcosms, watching the light installations shift and chime in harmony with the surrounding trees.
-
Find the hidden interactive elements in the forest that trigger unique soundscapes and light sequences based on your movement.
Hidden Gems
-
Visit during the transition from dusk to night to capture the stunning contrast of the digital lights awakening against the twilight sky.
-
Look closely at the smaller, ground-level installations near the tree roots, which many visitors miss while focusing on the larger glowing sculptures.
-
Listen carefully to the ambient soundscapes, as the audio is dynamically generated by the movements of people around you, creating a unique melody every time.
What Makes it Special

The seamless integration of cutting-edge digital technology with the existing natural landscape of Nagai Park without harming the environment.
-
The deeply interactive nature of the exhibits, where the art continuously evolves based on the collective behavior of the visitors present.
-

Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
The best time to visit is right at sunset, typically around 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM depending on the season, allowing you to watch the garden transform as darkness falls. Autumn and spring offer the most comfortable weather for walking outdoors, while summer evenings provide a magical, humid atmosphere with firefly-like light effects. Weekday evenings are significantly less crowded than weekends, offering a more serene and uninterrupted experience.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Use a fast lens and increase your ISO to capture the vibrant colors of the light installations without using a flash, which is strictly prohibited and ruins the ambiance.
-
Position your subjects near the glowing Ovoids or Resonating Trees to use the dynamic art as a natural, colorful light source for stunning portrait silhouettes.
-
Capture long exposure shots of the water features to create beautiful light trails, but be mindful of other visitors walking through your frame.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
While the garden encourages interaction, it is important to speak softly and avoid running to maintain the tranquil, meditative atmosphere for everyone. Japanese park etiquette applies, so please refrain from eating outside designated areas, picking the plants, or leaving any trash behind. Tipping is not practiced in Japan, and staff members are there to assist you politely without expecting extra gratuity.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
During the Osaka Castle and Nagai Park autumn foliage season, the garden often features special lighting adjustments to highlight the changing colors of the leaves.
-
In winter, the installations sometimes incorporate festive, snow-like light patterns and cooler color palettes to celebrate the holiday season.
-
Spring brings the cherry blossom season, where the digital lights beautifully contrast with the delicate pink petals falling around Nagai Park.
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Watch your step carefully, especially near the ponds and on uneven grassy areas, as the dim lighting can make tripping hazards difficult to see.
-
Keep a close eye on young children at all times to prevent them from wandering into the water features or climbing on the delicate art installations.
-
Be aware of your surroundings and avoid staring at your phone screen while walking to prevent collisions with other guests or park fixtures.
