Frequently Asked Questions

Admission grants access to the historical Gongbaodi mansion courtyards, the traditional Minnan architectural exhibits, and the adjacent Lai Garden. Guided tours of the inner residence are typically included or available as a scheduled add-on depending on the ticket type.
Visitors generally spend between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete the guided tour of the historical residence and walk through the surrounding gardens at a leisurely pace.
You will see well-preserved 19th-century Minnan-style architecture, intricate wood and stone carvings, ancestral halls, and historical artifacts detailing the Wufeng Lin family's influence in Qing-dynasty Taiwan.
You can take a taxi, which takes approximately 20 minutes, or ride local bus routes such as the 151 from the HSR station directly to the Wufeng area near the mansion.
Yes, the spacious gardens and open courtyards are suitable for families and educational groups, though children must be supervised around the fragile historical artifacts and landscape ponds.
While the outer gardens and main entrance have paved pathways, the inner historical courtyards feature high wooden thresholds and uneven stone flooring that make wheelchair and stroller navigation difficult.
Weekday mornings offer the quietest experience, while visiting during spring or autumn provides the most comfortable weather for exploring the outdoor Lai Garden.
Bring comfortable walking shoes for navigating uneven stone paths, along with sun protection and water for exploring the outdoor gardens.
Admission tickets are generally valid only for the selected date of visit, and missing a pre-booked guided tour time usually results in forfeiture of the tour portion without a refund.
Flash photography is strictly prohibited inside the historical rooms to protect the artifacts, and standard guided tours are primarily conducted in Mandarin, so non-speakers should request English pamphlets at the entrance.

Wufeng Linjia Garden is located at the foot of Wufeng Mountain in Taichung City. Built in 1893 (the nineteenth year of Guangxu, Qing Dynasty), the owner is Lin Wenqin, the father of Mr. Lin Xiantang, cultural giant. This garden mansion and the Taipei Banqiao Lin Family Garden are known as two typical examples of Taiwan's old mansion, and it is one of the monuments with traditional Chinese architecture and gardening art. Its area is slightly smaller than that of Taipei Banqiao Lin Family Garden, but its luxury is not inferior to the latter. There are Jingxun Building, Rongjingzhai, Gongbaodi, Second House, Laiyuan, Ancestral Hall, Cemetery and other buildings in the park.
