About Horizon of Khufu: an immersive expedition to Ancient Egypt
Step into the past with Horizon of Khufu, a groundbreaking VR immersive expedition that transports you back 4,500 years to ancient Egypt during the Fourth Dynasty. Developed with Harvard University's leading Egyptologist, this intimate experience lets you explore the Great Pyramid of Giza as it once stood — walking through hidden corridors and deciphering hieroglyphics — all from a venue in Sydney.
Local Legends & Stories
The Great Pyramid of Giza was built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu and has stood for over 4,500 years as the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Ancient Egyptian beliefs held that the pyramid's corridors and chambers were designed to guide the pharaoh's soul on its journey to the afterlife, adding a spiritual dimension to every stone and passage.
Must Do Experiences

Put on the VR headset and walk through the Great Pyramid's long-forgotten corridors as they appeared 4,500 years ago, Enter the Queen's Chamber and uncover the mysteries that have baffled historians for centuries, Try your hand at deciphering ancient hieroglyphics in an interactive session, Join a small-group expedition for a personal and educational journey through ancient Egyptian life
Hidden Gems
-
The experience was developed in collaboration with Harvard University Egyptologist Peter der Manuelian, giving it unmatched academic credibility, Small group sizes mean you get a more personal and immersive experience than typical VR attractions, The hieroglyphics decoding segment offers a hands-on learning moment you won't find at standard museum exhibits
What Makes it Special
-
Developed in collaboration with Harvard University's renowned Egyptologist Peter der Manuelian for historically accurate representation, The immersive expedition format lets you move freely inside the Great Pyramid rather than just observing it passively, Available in three languages — English, Chinese, and French — making it accessible to a wide range of travellers

Respect local customs and traditions
While this is a VR experience rather than a religious site, showing respect for ancient Egyptian culture enhances the experience — take the educational elements seriously and engage thoughtfully with the hieroglyphics and history. Dress casually but comfortably, and maintain a quiet and respectful atmosphere during the immersive session so all group members can fully engage.
