How do you keep connected during your trips to Thailand? Are cell phones reliable or are SIM cards better?

While cellular service can be inconsistent in some areas, a SIM card is often a more reliable solution. Many places offer prepaid SIM cards at a much cheaper rate than buying a new phone.
