Salkantay Trek vs Inca Trail to Machu Picchu? What's the realistic difference for a solo hiker?

The Salkantay Trek is more flexible, cheaper, and doesn't require booking months ahead like the Inca Trail. It's also more scenic with varied ecosystems. As a solo hiker you'll join group tours either way, so Salkantay is the practical choice.
