The Kobe Municipal Museum was formerly known as the Kobe Municipal Nanban Art Museum. It was merged with the Kobe Municipal Archaeological Museum in 1982. It was built and expanded on the basis of the old Yokohama Shokin Bank Kobe branch, which was built in 1935. The collection includes 21 national treasures and 76 key cultural relics, totaling 38,000 collectibles. Especially famous are the Nanban paintings from the 16th to 17th centuries.
