How this calculator works

Flights use sourced return-fare ranges to Tokyo per departure city from KAYAK India, picked by season: January and February are usually the cheapest months, March–April (cherry blossom) and December the most expensive.

Visa: Indian passport holders need a Japan visa; the consular fee for Indian nationals is ₹500 (India is exempt from Japan's July 2026 fee increase). VFS or agency service charges are extra.

City hotel tax: hotels in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto add a small per-person, per-night accommodation tax; the calculator adds a range from nothing (budget stays) up to a five-night Kyoto stay. Japan's departure tax is already in your air ticket.

Hotel is per room per night for your travel style (two adults share a room). Food and transport are per person per day, and children under 12 count as half on the ground. Attractions you tick use live HolidaySG "from" prices. Everything is converted to rupees at HolidaySG's exchange rates; ranges are for planning, not quotes, and any figure not directly sourced is marked as an estimate.

What is the Japan trip cost per person from India?

Per person, a five-day mid-range trip is typically about ₹76,000 to ₹1.2 lakh, and the return flight is roughly two thirds of it. Travelling in January or February cuts the flight cost the most.

Is Japan expensive for Indian tourists?
