Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Spring and autumn offer the most spectacular scenery, with cherry blossoms blooming around the castle in April and vibrant foliage illuminating the gardens in November. Mornings are generally the best time to visit popular sites like Korakuen Garden to avoid crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Capture the iconic silhouette of Okayama Castle against the sunset sky from the opposite bank of the Asahi River for a dramatic evening shot.
-
Visit Korakuen Garden early in the morning to photograph the meticulously landscaped ponds and tea houses without large crowds in the frame.
-
When exploring the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, use the weeping willows and traditional wooden boats as foreground elements for beautiful canal reflections.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
When visiting shrines and temples included in your pass, remember to bow slightly before entering the torii gates and keep your voices low to respect worshippers. Tipping is not practiced in Japan, so simply offer a polite bow and a thank you to the staff at the ticket gates and facilities.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
Experience the magical Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden light-ups, which usually take place during the summer Obon festival and winter holiday seasons.
-
Join the lively Okayama Momotaro Festival in August, featuring vibrant parades, traditional dances, and fireworks celebrating the region's famous folklore.
-
Enjoy the stunning cherry blossom viewing parties in early April, where locals gather under the blooming sakura trees along the Asahi River and castle grounds.
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Wear comfortable, slip-resistant walking shoes, as some historic sites and castle grounds feature uneven stone paths and steep staircases.
-
Stay hydrated and carry a portable fan or umbrella during the hot and humid Okayama summers to prevent heat exhaustion while exploring outdoor gardens.
-
Keep your smartphone charged or bring a power bank, as you will need your device to display the digital QR code for entry at all three facilities.
Visitor Information
Entry Fee
This digital pass provides excellent value by bundling three premium attraction entries into one discounted price, and combo options are available that pair it with the JR Kansai Wide Area Pass for seamless regional travel.
Visit Duration
Allocate at least two to three hours for each of your three chosen facilities to fully appreciate the exhibits, gardens, and historical architecture. If you are short on time, prioritize the main keeps of the castle and the central ponds of Korakuen Garden for the most iconic highlights.
Accessibility
Most major attractions like Korakuen Garden and the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter offer paved paths and wheelchair-accessible routes, though some historic castle interiors may have steep stairs without elevator access.
