Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Early morning offers the clearest skies and the fewest crowds, making it the best time of day for unobstructed photography. Autumn from mid-October to early November is the most popular season for vibrant foliage, while winter provides stunning snow-capped peaks, though you should dress very warmly.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Capture the double-decker gondola in action from the Nabedaira Kogen intermediate station for a fantastic action shot against the mountain backdrop.
-
Head to the rooftop observation deck at the summit just after sunrise or during the golden hour before sunset for the most dramatic lighting on the Northern Alps.
-
Use a polarizing filter to cut through the alpine glare and enhance the deep blue skies and crisp mountain details.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
When visiting the mountain shrines or walking the forest trails, maintain a respectful and quiet demeanor to honor the sacred nature of the Hotaka peaks. Tipping is not practiced in Japan, so simply offer a polite bow and a warm thank you to the ropeway staff for their excellent service.
