About Tattoo-friendly open-air Onsen & drink Day Tours
Escape the bustling streets of Tokyo and unwind in a welcoming, tattoo-friendly open-air onsen surrounded by serene natural scenery. This relaxing day tour offers an authentic Japanese hot spring experience complete with towel rentals and a complimentary drink or ice cream, making it the perfect cultural retreat for every traveler.
Local Legends & Stories
Japanese hot springs have long been revered for their healing properties, with ancient folklore suggesting that the mineral-rich waters were blessed by mountain deities to cure ailments and purify the spirit. Bathing in a rotenburo is traditionally seen as a way to reconnect with nature and wash away both physical fatigue and worldly worries.

-
Enjoy a complimentary refreshing drink or ice cream of your choice under 300 yen after your soothing soak.
-
Embrace the authentic Japanese bathing ritual using the provided high-quality rental bath and face towel set.
-
Capture your peaceful retreat and leave a review to claim a special small gift from the tour organizers.
Hidden Gems
-
The inclusive tattoo-friendly policy allows travelers with body art to experience traditional onsen culture without the usual restrictions or need for cover-up patches.
-
Many visitors overlook the subtle seasonal changes in the open-air bath surroundings, which offer a uniquely different aesthetic depending on the time of year.
-
The complimentary drink allowance lets you discover unique local Japanese soft drinks or craft sodas from the facility's vending machines that you might not find in central Tokyo.
What Makes it Special
-
A rare fully tattoo-friendly environment in Japan that removes the stress and stigma often associated with visiting traditional public bathhouses.
-
A seamless all-inclusive experience that covers admission, towel rentals, and a post-bath treat so you can focus entirely on relaxation.
-
An immersive cultural escape that combines the therapeutic benefits of natural hot spring waters with the tranquil beauty of Japanese nature.
Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Late afternoon or early evening is the ideal time to visit, allowing you to watch the sunset or enjoy the starry night sky from the open-air baths. Autumn and winter are particularly magical seasons for this experience, as the crisp air perfectly contrasts with the steaming hot spring waters. Weekdays generally offer a much quieter and more intimate bathing experience compared to busy weekends.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Photography is strictly prohibited inside the bathing areas to respect the privacy of all guests, so leave your phone in your locker.
-
Capture the beautiful natural scenery and traditional architecture of the facility's exterior and relaxation zones before or after your bath.
-
Take advantage of the soft, golden hour lighting in the late afternoon to photograph the peaceful outdoor surroundings and your complimentary post-bath treat.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
Modesty and respect are key when visiting a Japanese onsen, so ensure you are fully undressed in the changing room and only bring your small face towel into the bathing area. It is considered impolite to stare at others, splash water, or speak loudly while soaking, as the onsen is meant to be a tranquil space for quiet reflection. Tipping is not practiced in Japan, so simply express your gratitude with a polite bow or a simple thank you to the staff.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
Winter illuminations and snow-viewing baths offer a breathtaking contrast of hot water and cold snow during the colder months.
-
Autumn foliage season transforms the natural surroundings of the open-air baths into a vibrant canvas of red and gold leaves.
-
Spring cherry blossom viewing from the outdoor relaxation areas provides a uniquely Japanese backdrop for your post-bath drink.
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Limit your soaking sessions to ten or fifteen minutes at a time to prevent overheating, dizziness, or dehydration.
-
Drink plenty of water before and after your bath, and take advantage of your included beverage to replenish lost fluids.
-
Walk carefully on wet surfaces around the baths and showers, as the smooth stone or tile floors can become quite slippery.
Visitor Information
Entry Fee
The tour price is conveniently structured as an all-inclusive package covering your onsen admission, towel rental set, and a post-bath drink or ice cream allowance. Specific pricing tiers for adults, children, and seniors are detailed during the booking process, and any traveler groups not explicitly mentioned in the booking options are not applicable for voucher use.
Visit Duration
Plan to spend about two to three hours at the facility to fully enjoy the bathing rituals, a leisurely soak, and your complimentary refreshment. If you are short on time, prioritize a quick shower and a single fifteen-minute soak in the main open-air bath before grabbing your drink to go.
Accessibility
While the relaxation areas and restrooms are generally accessible, traditional onsen facilities often feature uneven stone paths, steps, and slippery surfaces that can be challenging for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. It is highly recommended to contact the tour organizer in advance via the details on your e-voucher to discuss specific accessibility needs.
