Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Early morning or late afternoon provides the best natural lighting for photography, avoiding the harsh midday sun and heavy crowds at popular spots like Minato Mirai. Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful seasons in Yokohama, offering cherry blossoms or vibrant foliage to enhance your photo backdrops.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Schedule your Minato Mirai skyline shoot for the blue hour just after sunset to capture the city lights reflecting beautifully on the water.
-
Use the traditional architecture and winding paths of Sankeien Garden for soft, diffused morning light portrait sessions.
-
Always ask your photographer about local drone regulations if booking aerial photography, as certain areas near the port and airports have strict flight restrictions.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
While Yokohama is a highly international and welcoming city, it is polite to bow slightly when greeting your photographer and to speak in moderate tones in public spaces. Tipping is not customary in Japan, so simply expressing your gratitude with a sincere thank you is the best way to show appreciation for your photographer's hard work.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
The Yokohama Port Anniversary Festival in early June features spectacular ship parades and fireworks, offering a vibrant and unique backdrop for event photography.
-
Winter illuminations at Minato Mirai and the Red Brick Warehouse from November to February provide magical, sparkling settings for romantic evening portrait sessions.
-
Spring cherry blossom season in late March to early April transforms parks like Yamashita and Kishamichi into stunning pink wonderlands for hanami-themed shoots.
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Stay aware of your surroundings and follow local traffic rules, especially when doing street photography near busy intersections or tram lines.
-
Keep hydrated and use sun protection during summer months, as Yokohama's waterfront areas can become quite hot and humid.
-
Secure your personal belongings in a cross-body bag or locker while moving between locations to ensure a hands-free and safe photoshoot experience.
