There is no direct public bus to the main recreation area, so visitors without a car must hire a charter vehicle, take a taxi from Luodong, or join a guided tour that includes transportation.

While the paved sections of the Bailing Historic Trail and the flat paths around the visitor center are manageable for strollers, most of the forest trails consist of uneven steps and dirt paths. These natural trails require carrying children or using a baby carrier.
The visitor center, main dining areas, and the initial paved section of the Bailing Historic Trail offer wheelchair access. However, the natural forest trails, the Bouncing Train boarding process, and the Bengping Lake loop are not suitable for wheelchairs due to steep grades and stairs.
Late November to December is the optimal time to see the Taiwan maple trees turn red along the trails. For the clearest skies and highest chance of seeing the sea of clouds, visitors should arrive at the viewpoints before sunrise.
Visitors should bring layered clothing for fluctuating mountain temperatures, a waterproof rain jacket, and sturdy walking shoes with good grip for damp trails. It is also advisable to pack sufficient snacks and water, as dining options are limited to the central villa area.
The standard entry ticket purchased at the toll station is valid for a single day only. Guests with confirmed overnight reservations at the Taipingshan Villa can present their booking confirmation at the Tuchang toll station for multi-day access.
The mountain access road features narrow, winding sections with frequent blind curves and occasional rockfalls. Drivers must exercise caution, use headlights at all times, and yield to oncoming traffic on single-lane bridges, especially during foggy conditions or after heavy rain.
