About Sydney Harbour Rocket Sightseeing Cruise by Captain Cook Transport Passes
Set sail on the iconic Red Rocket catamaran for a memorable 65–80 minute round-trip cruise around Sydney Harbour. With flexible boarding throughout the day, you can explore the harbour's most famous landmarks—including the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge—at your own pace.
Local Legends & Stories
Sydney Harbour has deep Aboriginal heritage, with the area known as 'Warrang' to the traditional Eora people. The Opera House's sail-like design was inspired by orange segments, according to its architect Jørn Utzon.

Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Visit during the early morning or late afternoon for softer lighting and fewer crowds. The spring and autumn months offer pleasant weather and clear harbour views, while summer brings longer days but busier schedules.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
The open upper deck provides the best vantage point for wide-angle shots of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge
-
Golden hour—just before sunset—casts a warm glow on the harbour's iconic skyline
-
Avoid flash photography to respect other passengers and capture natural harbour colours
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
Australians appreciate a friendly but relaxed attitude; a simple 'g'day' goes a long way. Tipping is not mandatory on cruises, but rounding up or leaving a small tip for exceptional service is appreciated.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
Vivid Sydney (May–June) illuminates the harbour with stunning light installations visible from the cruise
-
New Year's Eve fireworks over the Harbour Bridge offer a spectacular (though crowded) viewing experience
-
Summer holiday periods often feature special themed cruises with live commentary
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Hold onto railings when moving between decks, as the catamaran may experience slight movement on the water
-
Keep an eye on personal belongings, especially on the open deck where wind can easily blow items away
-
Children and elderly passengers should be supervised at all times near the railings
