Available Facilities
Perfect Timing
When to visit for the best experience
Mt. Titlis is a fantastic year-round destination, but the best time for clear, sunny panoramas is during the summer months from June to September. If you want to combine the visit with world-class skiing or winter sports, December to March offers pristine powdery conditions. Arrive early in the morning to beat the tour groups and enjoy the clearest mountain views before afternoon clouds roll in.
Photography Guide
Capture the perfect shots
-
Use a polarizing filter on your camera to reduce the harsh glare from the snow and enhance the deep blue of the alpine sky.
-
Capture a dramatic wide-angle shot from the middle of the Titlis Cliff Walk to emphasize the sheer drop and surrounding peaks.
-
Inside the Glacier Cave, use a low-light setting without flash to capture the natural, magical blue hues of the ancient ice.
Cultural Etiquette
Respect local customs and traditions
The Swiss value punctuality, so ensure you arrive at the Engelberg cable car station on time for your scheduled departure. While English is widely spoken, greeting the staff with a friendly 'Grüezi' (Swiss German for hello) is highly appreciated. Remember to respect the pristine alpine environment by disposing of all trash in designated bins and staying on marked trails.
Special Events & Experiences
Enhanced experiences and seasonal highlights
-
SnowXpark at Trübsee (winter only), where visitors can race electric snowmobiles on closed circuits.
-
Titlis Mountain Trophy (August), a challenging hiking event from Engelberg to the summit.
-
Summer tubing and zip-lining at the Trübsee middle station, offering family-friendly thrills during the warmer months.
Important Guidelines & Safety
Essential safety information and guidelines
-
Walk slowly and carefully on the glacier and inside the ice cave, as surfaces can be extremely slippery.
-
Pay attention to your body and rest if you feel dizzy or short of breath due to the high altitude (3,020 meters).
-
Never cross safety barriers or venture off marked paths, as hidden glacier crevasses pose a severe danger.

Overview
From the village of Engelberg the ascent goes in stages, changing cars at Trübsee and Stand, until you board the Rotair — the first rotating cable car ever built, which turns a full circle as it crosses the glacier so that everyone gets the whole panorama of crevasses, ice fields and surrounding summits.
At 3,020 metres the summit station opens onto terraces looking out over an enormous spread of Alpine peaks. The Glacier Cave runs directly into the ice, a tunnel of blue-white walls at permanently sub-zero temperatures, and the Titlis Cliff Walk — the highest suspension bridge in Europe — spans a gorge beside the station for anyone with the nerve.
The Ice Flyer chairlift then carries you out low over the crevasses to the glacier snow park, where tubing and snow play run through the season. There is snow up here every month of the year.
